Ladie's Annual Lectureship

I am writing to let you know that the ZIMBAWE LADIES ANNUAL GOSPEL MEETING which was held in Mutare City 23RD TO 26TH August went on very well. Our records show that some 1367 attended the meeting. The theme this year was "BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN HEART". The meeting was attended by ladies from all over Zimbabwe. We are happy that these ladies were able to attend regardless of all the transport problems were are facing in Zimbabwe. We have an acute shortage of fuel.

If this continues in two weeks all cars will be parked. Some of these ladies took three days to get to the meeting and those around Mutare walked to the meeting. The ladies reported good lessons and many responses. We are glad to report that 9 ladies were baptized at the meeting. On Sunday I preached about Mary Magdalene's role at the resurrection of Jesus from John 20: 1- 18. We hope the ladies were strengthened and will go home and help those who did not come. 167 ladies from Sakubva church of Christ attended. Sakubva was the hosting congregation and other congregations contributed towards food and accommodation charges. This is a great work which was done.

Next year the meetings for both the Youth and Ladies will be in Marondera. I planted the church in Marondera 1964 before moving to Mutare which is the eastern city of Zimbabwe.. God bless you all

Youth Retreat - August 16th-19th - Mutare

Dear Brethren in Christ,

I am writing to let you know that the Youth Retreat is in progress. It started Thursday and will end tomorrow the 19th of August.

We have so far counted 1208 youth from all over Zimbabwe. We are holding this at Mutare Polytechnic College. They are still coming. This is a successful yough gospel meeting during this time when our country is in trials. We want you to pray for us. This event is done yearly. Last year it was in Bulawayo. This year the Sakubva is the hosting congregation.

The Ladies are coming next Thursday August 23rd to the 26th.

Welcome

Welcome to the Zimbabwe Missions Blog. This blog is for passing on information about the work of the Lord in Sakubva, Mutare, Zimbabwe. This work is supported by members and congregations of the Churches of Christ both in Zimbabwe (Sakubva), Alabama (Auburn), Oregon (Southwest congregation in Tigard, OR), and Florida (Rockledge, Maricamp Road in Ocala, & North Brevard in Titusville, FL).

The work in Zimbabwe is carried on mainly by Campion Mugweni and his wife, Joyce. They have been working in Sakubva since 1965. Campion is also one of three Elders serving at the Sakubva Church of Christ. The other Elders are Ephraime Mandeya and Barnabas Mubvumbi. The church at Sakubva also has 10 deacons serving at this time.

This is a very "mature" congregation of the Lord's church and Sakubva is involved in many outreach efforts in Sakubva and in the surrounding areas of Zimbabwe.
